The Samurai dash was left fairly stock. Switches and controls fall readily to hand in the clean interior.

The custom aluminum bed has built-in toolboxes on either side to carry all of Dean's backcountry tools and equipment.

33x12.50R15LT BFGoodrich Radial Mud Terrain TA's are mounted on 15x10" alloy wheels. You can also see the Warn premium locking hubs.

There are a lot of little touches that make this Samurai special, too. Take, for instance, the underneath "rock lights," with two in front, two in the center and two in back that, with the help of the headlights and the two off-road lights on the bumper, illuminate the trail quite well at night. Also note the snorkel. While the installation of a snorkel on most vehicles is laughable, as differentials, trannys, transfer cases and electrics get waterlogged long before a snorkel would be needed, in this case, Dean made sure he could ford water that came almost to the top of the hood. As mentioned before, all gearboxes are vented to the top of the firewall. Even the four Sony stereo speakers are waterproof marine units! A Cobra CB and cell phone keep Dean in touch with the outside world.

As the Samurai was put through its paces on the rocks, the suspension allowed the axles to articulate very well, keeping all four tires firmly planted on the ground. The Toyota power steering made steering easy, and the overall vehicle impressed us with its execution and great looks. Chances are, you'll find Dean and his Suzuki out on the trail someday. When you do, take a few minutes to talk to him and check out the many modifications and fine workmanship that truly make this a "Super Samurai."
