Nancy Bailey takes her monster Scrambler up through the rocks of Cactus Ridge. 42" Swampers help keep the rocks at bay and the Scrambled Thing moving up the trail.
Our trail leader on the Cactus Ridge trail was Greg Wall. He inspired our confidence by pulling out his winch cable for a brief pull shortly into the trail.



The canyons outside of Montrose are inhabited by huge rocks and are deceptively vertical. The rocks are often slick with dust that makes traction on the steep climbs difficult.


Jim Bailey pilots his CJ7 over the constant progression of rocks and ledges that make up Cactus Ridge. Jim was running 39.5 Swampers on the Jeep to keep his differentials off the rocks.


The last vertical shelf on Cactus ridge is steep enough that the front end can lose contact with Mother Earth. Greg Wall jumped aboard Bob Kimbrell's spring-over Wrangler to help keep it from toppling.
