Spidertrax, Inc., the brainchild of Eddie Casanueva and Tom Kingston, has become famous for superb parts that turn the Suzuki Samurai into an extreme rock crawler. Eddie is a certified CNC machinist skilled in CAD/CAM operation with extensive experience in manufacturing and tool making. Tom is a Mechanical Engineer with a Master's toward mechanism who's specialty is solid modeling, structural and motion design. With backgrounds like these, it's obvious that Spidertrax is not your normal "shade tree" 4x4 store.
Eddie and Tom are both avid hard-core rock crawlers, so they both own Samurais equipped with the full range of products they offer (and some prototype pieces). Recently, with some prodding from us, they decided to build the "ultimate" Samurai, pulling out all the stops to end up with a 4x4 that could go anywhere and compete with any vehicle, even the high end rock buggies that are turning up around the country. The end result is the "Arachnid."

This shot of the undercarriage shows the quality of Spidertrax' work. The flat belly pan attaches with three bushing-style mounts and the GRSII transfer case is mounted rigidly to it. 7075T6 aluminum panels provide protection. All armor is attached to the undercarriage. Note also the 1/4 elliptical spring packs, their mounts and the long, level control arms.
The lower front control arms of the three-link/coil front setup are long and strong. They're also almost level at static height. The entire undercarriage is powdercoated. |
