1 Currie Enterprises' new TJ not only grabs attention at shows, but works great on the toughest trails the backcountry can dish out. 2 35x12.50R15LT Goodyear Wrangler MT-R's are mounted on 15x8" Centerline wheels. Champion beadlocks keep the tires on the rim during extreme maneuvers. The Jeep is able to clear the tires by using a custom suspension system designed by Currie Enterprises. 3 Currie Enterprises specializes in Ford 9" front and rear ends, so obviously, that's what was used here. The bottom of the 9" housings were trimmed and a skidplate welded on to protect against pesky biting rocks. The high pinion front and rear third members feature 4.10 gears and Detroit Lockers. The front uses Jeep CJ outer ends with Warn Premium locking hubs, while the rear features Currie Enterprise's disc brake kit. Note the steering box stabilizer and steering box skidplate. 4 Here's a better look at Currie's track bar. The bar end features a "Johnny Joint," which allows plenty of movement, is rebuildable and quite strong. 5a, 5b Currie Enterprises' control arms feature Johnny Joints on all ends. While the front control arms work on Wranglers with stock front and rear ends (rear arms are also available for stock configurations) this Jeep has Curries' longer rear arms. The lower arms wrap under the housing, while the top arms are triangulated, allowing the rear track bar to be deleted. You can see here how much clearance the Currie high pinion 9" third members afford. Also, for more clearance, the Currie crossmember gains an extra 2.5" of clearance in the middle of the Jeep and is much beefier than the thin stock crossmember. 6 This close up shows how the lower rear control arm wraps under the housing, lengthening the arms and improving geometry greatly. 7a, 7b All control arm frame brackets were trimmed with a skidplate welded on for strength. This gives about one inch more clearance under the brackets. 8 A Currie stainless fuel tank was installed. The tank is built from beefy 10 gauge material and holds over 22 gallons. 9a, 9b A custom TJ exhaust system was designed for Currie applications. The exhaust pipe exits much higher than stock. You can see the way the upper rear control arms are triangulated. 10 The engine compartment was left pretty much stock, with exception of a K&N filter and air system from Turbo City. 11 A Warn X9500i winch was painted to match the wild paint scheme on the Wrangler. In spite of the paint, it still works fine to get the Jeep up Helldorado, though. 12 The seats were upholstered to match, too. While they look great at the SEMA Show and are actually very durable, the Curries prefer to cover them with Mopar seat covers in the backcountry. 13 A Tuffy overhead security console keeps the CB radio and other small valuables out of the way, safe, yet still in reach. 14 Rock Crawler II bumpers front and rear are lightweight, yet still afford plenty of protection. The rear tire carrier swings away and doesn't attach to the body at all, carrying all the tire's weight on the Jeep's frame. | ||||||||
