Toyota to showcase his wares, he wanted it to perform well, too.

His 1987 4Runner came with the trusty 22RE fuel injected 4-cylinder engine, which Jon elected to leave alone. He changed out the stock transmission for a five-speed tranny out of a turbo pickup, which is quite a bit stronger with a little lower gear ratios. To really make the truck work on the trail, an ultimate Marlin Crawler dual transfer case system was installed that, along with the 4.88 gears in the differentials, gives the 4Runner a 223:1 crawl ratio!
