As usual, Marlin Crawler has an answer. Marlin got together with an axle shop in the eastern U.S. and put together a birfield that's approximately 150% stronger than stock. Called the "Marfield," this joint is not indestructible, just a lot stronger. In other words, just what Toyota owners need on the trail. During the R&D stage, some Marfields broke in the backcountry but, by the time you read this, the new and improved Marfields should be ready for shipping.

1. Jay started the birfield/Marfield swap by removing the hub. 2. Use a hammer to loosen the hub assembly. Make sure you retain the cone washers, as you'll use them again. 3.Remove the snap ring on the outer end of the axle. Snap ring pliers makes this a lot easier to do than using two screwdrivers.
