Extreme 4x4.com is the oldest four-wheeling site on the Web. As such, it's gone through many changes in its look and content over the years. The Web gurus here have been working hard to update the look of Extreme 4x4.com once again. A magazine-like cover now graces the opening page and an easier to read, easier to navigate Table of Contents page is up and running.
Extreme 4x4.com is privileged to have so many fine sponsors. These sponsors supply products and services to you hard-core four wheelers and, in most cases, are four wheelers themselves. In order to get our sponsors message to you, we have advertising on site.
Most Web sites have banner ads that you click on and travel to whatever site the banners are advertising. We wanted to offer readers and sponsors a more magazine-like format, with full-page ads running throughout our feature stories. This works quite well, but we've been receiving some complaints that features are cut off by an advertisement, ending them right at the interesting
| part. We guess that some of you haven't noticed that you can go forward to the next page, or click on the page number below the ads to continue with the features.
In order to remedy this, we've decided to try "pop up" ads. This still gives our sponsors a full-page ad, but the pop up ads don't interfere with story continuity. It also allows you to either click on the pop up to see what's up with that sponsor, or, click anywhere else on the page to reduce the ad for later viewing.
We think this is a good way to present our sponsors products and services, while still giving our readers great-looking features that flow from start to finish with no interruption. What do you think of our new look? We'd like to hear from you. Please send your ideas and suggestions to comments@extreme4x4.com.
Whether you make a comment or not, we'd like to thank every one of you for making Extreme 4x4.com one of the World Wide Web's finest four-wheeling sites! |
